A congressional committee believes that commercial drivers, like bus drivers and truckers, can obtain a fake medical certificate with little chance of getting caught. The report by the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Oversight and Investigations also raises the concern of “examiner hopping” (commonly known as “doctor shopping”), where a driver who fails a medical exam by one doctor can simply go and find another doctor that will certify them, with no record of the previously failed test.
What is your opinion on doctor shopping or medically unqualified drivers? Any doctors that want to weigh in on this? Know any doctors that examine commercial drivers? We’d love to hear from you.
